The Electoral Commission has disclosed the total number of valid voters for the upcoming 2024 General Election in Ghana. The certified voters' register indicates that there are 18,774,159 valid voters listed to participate in the election. This figure includes voters with biometric data, totaling 18,640,811 individuals, special voters amounting to 131,478 people from security agencies, media personnel, and EC officials, as well as voters without biometric data who stand at 1,870. Additionally, there are specified numbers of voters on various lists such as the Exceptions List, Multiples List, Proxy List, Transferred Voters, and Absent Voters.

The validity of the voter register has been emphasized by the Electoral Commission, reassuring measures in place to ensure accountability and transparency during the electoral process. Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Chairman of Operations, addressed the exclusion of 884 voters from the Absent Voters List due to administrative closures of some polling stations. He clarified that even though these voters were purportedly excluded, their records are securely maintained within the Voter Management System.

With the detailed statistics now released, political parties and citizens can better understand the scope and scale of voter participation expected in the upcoming election, fostering a sense of readiness and anticipation among stakeholders. The figures provide concrete data for all involved parties to strategize effectively and engage actively in the democratic process come election day.
